One thing I want every Adehye Roots traveler to understand is that Ghana is not simply a place to come searching for the past.
Ghana is alive.
- It is the aunties working together to produce shea butter.
- It is artisans creating beautiful pieces by hand.
- It is children laughing at school.
- It is the sounds of Accra.
- It is the mountains of Akuapem.
- It is food, music, family, faith, entrepreneurship, creativity, tradition, and change all existing together.
And sometimes, experiencing Ghana is as simple as sitting around a table and sharing a meal at home with family.
Those moments are especially meaningful to me.
There is something different about being welcomed into a home, eating food prepared with love, talking, laughing, and simply spending time together.
You aren't sitting in a restaurant watching Ghana happen around you. For that moment, you are part of the family.
There may be no formal tour or carefully planned activity, just good food, conversation, laughter, and the warmth of being welcomed into someone's home.
That is Ghana too.
